ErandiaWiki:Naming conventions

This page is an official ErandiaWiki guideline.

Conventions for article names:

Characters: Main file should be the character's full (or "real") name (if they have one) with redirects from their first name and any commonly used aliases. (for example, Sardill is the main file, but there are redirects from Swamp, etc. Keolah Kedaire is the main file, but there's a redirect for Keolah.) If necessary, disambiguate for characters with the same name or similar names to other things. (e.g. Silver is also a metal, there is more than one Talia, etc).
Items: For common items, use the singular form with a redirect for the plural only if necessary. (example: bag of holding, but will have a redirect from bags of holding if needed.) For unique items or massive items, just use the name (examples being lifeshine salve and Zarnith.)
Races and species: Main file should be the plural form with redirects from the singular form. (for example: elves is the main file, but there's a redirect for elf.)
Talents: Main article should be the usual name of the talent (Time Magic), with redirects for any other names it goes by (Chronomancy) the references of people who use it. (Time Mage, Time Mages, Chronomancer, Chronomancers) Add such redirects only as necessary used in actual articles. Please remember that magic forms have both capitalized. It is Time Magic, not time magic or Time magic. (Yes, this is important, as except for the first word, it is case sensitive!)

Conventions for category names:

Mages: The category name should generally be in the form "(talent) Mages", not "(foo)mancers". The exceptions to this are when there isn't a "(talent) Mages" form (Omnimancers) or when a different word not involving -mancer is more common. (Seekers, Changers, etc).
