In order to keep character categories as useful as possible, the player character and non-player character categories will be removed. Instead, the following categories will be used:

• Active characters: Characters who are being played regularly and are getting a decent amount of screentime and speaking parts.
• Semi-active characters: Characters that appear occasionally but don't really stay for long or say much.
• Inactive characters: Characters which were at one point active but currently haven't been seen in some time, however are still probably alive somewhere and could show up at some point if their player wants.
• Retired characters: Characters that are dead, lost in time, have since been reborn as somebody else, have wandered off into the wild blue yonder, their players have gotten sick of them, or are otherwise pretty much permanently removed from the scene. Note that this does not preclude the possibility of them reappearing through rebirth or Time Magic if their player so desires at some point.
• Minor characters: Characters which have appeared in actual stories or rp, but were never particularly important or developed.
• Peripheral characters: Characters which have never actually been played or really written about, and generally only appear as names in a character's biography. They may or may not still actually be alive. Since peripheral characters have never actually been played by anyone, they are generally open for anyone that wants to play them if they so desire.
