Characters

Characters are the fictional beings that inhabit the Elkandu Universe. They are the primary focal point where the action takes place. They move the plot, they have their own feelings, relationships, powers and abilities. They are unique and individual entities in their own right.

Player characters, or PCs, are the primary characters actively run by a player. They tend to be very individual and well-fleshed out, with closely defined abilities, personality, and a detailed background.

Non-player characters, or NPCs, are less important backdrop characters and can generally be created and disposed of as needed. Most of them lack a name, however some recurring NPCs make for a vital part of the setting, such as the pamphlet centaur.

Between these two main categories, there are a number of player characters who are not currently being actively played for various reasons, well-developed NPCs, and poorly-developed PCs. The lines sometimes get fairly blurred.
